Rabbi Stuart Altshuler has served as rabbi of Belsize Square Synagogue since January 2011. In this period of time, Rabbi Altshuler has brought his own brand of vibrancy to the congregation and to the wider Jewish community. Rabbi Altshuler, a native of Los Angeles, came to us from Southern California, where he taught in the Department of Religious Studies and History at Chapman University, Orange, California. Rabbi Altshuler holds a doctorate in Jewish history and his rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and has served congregations in Chicago, Virginia and in Orange County, California.
Rabbi Altshuler is married to Ella, an acclaimed music recording artist and author, and they have a teenaged son, Micah. Rabbi Altshuler also has two older children, Elana Rahel, who lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and three children, and Eitan Meir, who resides in Tel Aviv, Israel.
