Avenue Shu – A Puppet Purim at BSS

This year Belsize Square Synagogue celebrated Purim with a cast of characters that could have been in “Avenue Q”, writes Jeanie Horowitz, head of Cheder.  The puppets I am referring to were generously donated by a member of our community and transformed Purim on the Saturday evening 28 February, as well as at Cheder on Sunday morning 1 March.

Anne Frank (+You) exhibition
The UK's most renowned travelling exhibition is in town this month, offering an interactive virtual tour of the Secret Annexe in Amsterdam where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis. Recommended for those aged 10 and up, it's on at the SW1 Gallery, Cardinal Place, Victoria until 30 January. More details here.
 
Mitzvah Day

On Sunday 15 November thousands of people across the UK joined Mitzvah Day, an opportunity to help out in local communities, learn about different ways of helping and giving of ones time to help someone else. It also marked the beginning of Interfaith Week in the UK. Jeanie Horowitz explains how Belsize Square Cheder got involved.
